The 82nd Texas Legislature tasked the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts to build this web portal — a comprehensive, statewide collection of resources and information to help Texans address the economic effects of obesity. In addition, our agency was charged with using fitness data collected by the Texas Education Agency to create GIS maps showing where in Texas students are most at risk for obesity. These maps will help identify the state’s obesity hot spots — areas most in need of targeted intervention.
